did it begin with gold?

Did it begin with the gold,

this recurring attempted destruction of the common fold?

For us Europeans its not that old,

Is it a wonder that we got so solid gone and sold, to this thing called gold,

The godless world we’d already been sold,

It must have touched us some where deep inside our past,

‘wow look at that, its part the sun or a star, here at last,’

Who is that bright spark, who came up with that lark, of an idea of a god you couldn’t see?,

its got to be the second most stupid idea in history,

Did it begin with the gold,

this recurring attempted deconstruction of the common fold?

I suppose the precursor to this conversion,

was the imperially imposed perversion of a god we couldn’t see,

If you can get people to obey something that has no connection to reality,

well there’s no limit, that’s just a recipe for misery and prophecy,

and the only purpose of life is now an allegory,

for a higher state, which will come to us if we obey and wait, wait and obey,

Did it begin with the gold,

this recurring attempted destruction of the common fold?

Diverting our history in its direction,

through a mirror that showed no reflection, in which nothing could be seen,

so, we couldn’t see where we had been, where we’d come from,

was it that, that took us to the somme, to those chambers,

the capacity to sell thy neigbours,
